Longhorns quarterback David Ash holds several keys to the success of this season for the football team. The Longhorns have plenty of talent, but the sophomore signal caller is going to be vital for the team to reach the BCS or at least the Big 12 title game. Ash has done well in non-conference play as a game manager with just that fumbled snap against Wyoming being a bad mark.
There are critics that point out that Ash's slightly slow reaction time is costing the Longhorns some nice gains and big play opportunities. He will be definitely tested when the Big 12 conference play starts with teams like Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Oklahoma coming up in consecutive weeks in the Longhorns tough schedule.
A win against Ole Miss in SEC country is just what the Longhorns need right now. But it will be tough to do as the Rebels are looking to protect their 2-0 start which is their first since their 2009 season. Ash will also be matched up against Bo Wallace who has brought strong play to the QB position in Oxford.
All said and done, I expect the Longhorns to prevail over the Rebels in what should be a very exciting atmosphere at Vaught-Hemingway stadium with ESPN in town too. The Longhorns have too many offensive weapons and will spoil the party in Mississippi and it is just the momentum they need.
I can't wait for the game. Always loved college game day on Saturday nights!
